Proteolytic enzymes, also known as proteases, are responsible for supporting digestion and metabolism by breaking down protein. Supplemental proteolytic enzymes have an established history of use for supporting immunity and promoting general wellbeing.

Supplemental proteases administered orally on an empty stomach have been shown to be absorbed and carried into the bloodstream. While in the bloodstream, proteases bind to alpha-11 macroglobulin (A2M). As a complex, the bound protease circulates through the body to become part of the immune system.
